Some of us workout the rest of the year just to be able to sport a perfect bikini body for the summer time. If you are one of these people who actually achieved this, well good for you! But for some of us, who just got too caught up at work to see it through, don’t worry, with the numerous styles, cuts and variety of swimsuits available in the market now, there will surely be one that works best for your body shape!

Zurbaines -- Striped Bikini by Joe Fresh

Pear Shape or Heavy Bottom

De-emphasize your trouble spots with a strategically cut bottom.
• Stay away from loud “look at me” prints and ruffles on your lower half, opt for solid dark colors instead.
• Do not make the mistake of wearing boy shorts, they cut your thighs off in the wrong place! Go for a moderate bottom bikini that’s cut a little higher , 3-inch sides are very chic.
• Try a maillot one piece. Something with wide straps, or a strong horizontal neckline, will balance out your silhouette. Remember, playing up your top side will de-emphasize your bottom side.
• Deep V-neck one piece or tankinis makes your upper body look sexier, and also make you look longer.

Straight or Ruler Shape

Don’t worry, take advantage of the fact you have nothing to hide and sport a skimpy style! Or you can also fake some curves with ruffles, rings, jewels, ties and other embellishments. You can go wild on patterns and colors!
• Enhance your boobs and butt with ruffles, gathering, or padding.
• Flaunt your straight silhouette in an itty-bitty string bikini.
• Avoid sex-appeal quashing bandeau tops and sporty bottoms

Broad Shoulder or Athletic Shape

Women with an athletic body type should focus on feminine cuts and details. Balance is also the key, you would want to play up the bottom of your torso and minimize the upper half.
• Show off your toned lower half with embellishments at the hip and a tapered-back bottom.
• Soften your chest area with cups, padding, gathering, or a girly print.
• Pass on bandeaus, boy-cut briefs, and shapeless tanks.

Hourglass Shape

An hourglass figure calls for a suit that complements curves while keeping assets firmly in place.
• Opt for a solid or a small print that won’t distort your proportions.
• Look for an underwire, balconette, or halter style to support your chest.
• Unless you have exhibitionist tendencies, stay away from anything with a shifty string top or bottom.

Tummy Control

If you are self-conscious about your tummy try one of those fabulous, tummy, control panel, swimsuits: they really work wonders.
• If you’re going for a two-piece swimsuit, then checkout the, “meet-and-greet,” tankinis that are on the fashion scene today. They cover just enough, but you still have the freedom and hip factor of a bikini.
• A one-piece with some draping around the waist or hips can also help to conceal.
• Avoid itsy-bitsy bikinis and blah, solid colored, one-pieces.

Pooch Conscious

Also know as puson in Tagalog.
• A sleek red suit smooths out the belly and never fails to spell sexy.
• Ruffled waistbands can also be adjusted to sit higher and conceal.
• High-waist retro cuts work wonders too!
